Facts and Figures

As part of the post-fire renovation, Waagner-Biro Stage Systems supplied 150 upper stage hoists and the entire control system. The equipment included sound doors, lighting bridges, point and machine hoists, a German/Greek-style front curtain, a safety curtain, and a smoke vent system. All movements and stage processes are controlled via the C⋅A⋅T V4 system. The remaining stage systems were installed in collaboration with a Korean partner company.

Already its striking architecture makes the Seoul Arts Center a true eye-catcher.

But Korea’s leading arts and cultural complex offers far more than visual appeal: With a Music Hall featuring two concert halls, an Opera House with three auditoriums, and a unique combination of museums – including the Hangaram Art Museum, the Hangaram Design Museum, and the Seoul Calligraphy Art Museum – the center brings together all artistic disciplines under one roof. Even a public library finds its place in this modern cultural hub.

Following a major fire in December 2007, rapid action was required to restore the opera house's technical infrastructure. Waagner-Biro Stage Systems played a key role in the recovery process, delivering 150 upper stage hoists and the C⋅A⋅T V4 control system within an exceptionally short timeframe. To ensure a smooth and efficient implementation, the remaining stage technology was installed in close cooperation with a local partner – making it possible for the Seoul Arts Center to reopen its doors as a fully modernized, high-performance venue for the arts.
