As part of the project, the Royal Danish Playhouse was equipped with the state-of-the-art C⋅A⋅T V5 control system, accompanied by a comprehensive upgrade of both the upper and lower stage machinery. The upper stage machinery includes 56 powered fly bar hoists, 15 point hoists, several lighting bridges, as well as the main curtain and safety curtain. In the lower stage area, the installation comprises four primary podiums with electro-mechanical locks, a backdrop storage elevator, and a stage wagon featuring an integrated turntable and revolving ring. The result is a future-ready stage system that ensures precise operation and maximum flexibility in daily performance use.

The Royal Danish Playhouse was purpose-built for dramatic theatre and offers three performance spaces
– the main stage, the mezzanine, and the small stage – accommodating up to 950 guests. Waagner-Biro Stage Systems was commissioned to upgrade the stage technology and renew the control system with the state-of-the-art C⋅A⋅T V5 platform.
As part of the project, the upper stage machinery was comprehensively modernised. The new installation includes 56 powered fly bar hoists and 15 point hoists, along with five lighting bridges and one proscenium lighting bridge hoist. The main curtain, safety curtain and three large acoustic doors were also integrated into the system.The lower stage machinery was upgraded with four primary podiums equipped with electro-mechanical locks, a back drop storage elevator and two compensator platforms. In addition, a stage wagon with an integrated turntable and revolving ring was installed, enabling highly flexible scene changes.
The integration of the C⋅A⋅T V5 control system and the renewal of both upper and lower stage machinery ensures precise, reliable and safe operation for every performance – supporting the artistic ambition of the Playhouse with cutting-edge technology.
