Type of venue

The Opera di Firenze, opened in 2014, serves as a venue for opera, concert, and ballet performances, as well as the renowned Maggio Musicale Fiorentino opera festival.
Located at Piazza Vittorio Gui in Florence’s Parco delle Cascine, the venue accommodates up to 5,000 guests and features a large opera hall, a smaller hall, and an open-air stage on the roof above the main hall.
Already in April 2013, Waagner-Biro Stage Systems was commissioned to deliver the control system for the upper stage machinery and the orchestra platforms. In 2021, the client decided to upgrade to the state-of-the-art C⋅A⋅T V5 control system. This upgrade included new Unicorn drives for 31 axes and was completed by the end of 2021.
In addition, the client ordered a new pinion drive system for the stage wagon system in the main hall, as well as electrical components and a control system for the understage machinery. These works were completed by the end of 2022.
