Facts and Figures

The delivered stage equipment comprised “Super Silent” motor components for 37 scenic and heavy-duty hoists, as well as the complete monitoring and control system based on Waagner-Biro Stage Systems’ proven C⋅A⋅T technology. The platform podiums, installed just ten years earlier, were also connected to Waagner-Biro Stage Systems’ safety system.

Majestic and imposing, the Teatro Municipal de São Paulo rises proudly in the heart of the vibrant city.

A cultural landmark, it symbolizes the cosmopolitan aspirations of Brazil’s upper class in the early 20th century. Modeled after the Paris Opera, construction began in 1903, funded by wealthy coffee barons and public revenues. At the time of its opening, the luxurious building – with its blend of Renaissance and Baroque influences – was considered bold and avant-garde.

Following its successful work on the Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Waagner-Biro Stage Systems was once again commissioned to deliver stage technology for one of Brazil’s most iconic venues. In collaboration with partner company TELEM, Waagner-Biro Stage Systems supplied new stage equipment in August 2011 for the main stage of the São Paulo opera house. This included “Super Silent” drive systems for 37 scenic and heavy-duty hoists, along with a C⋅A⋅T computer control system. Even the stage platforms installed a decade earlier were integrated into the updated safety system, ensuring smooth and reliable operations.
