Type of venue

Gamle Scene means ‘old theatre’ and is one of the Royal Danish Theatres in Copenhagen, alongside the Royal Opera House and the Playhouse.
The foundation stone for this venue was laid in 1872 and the auditorium seats 1,600 people. It is primarily used for ballet and smaller opera productions.
Waagner-Biro Stage Systems was entrusted with the renovation of both upper and lower stage machinery, as well as the delivery of the advanced C⋅A⋅T V5 control system. The refurbishment works began in October 2023.The project included the removal of outdated equipment and a complete upgrade of the grid structure. A new machinery mezzanine level and lightweight grating were installed. In addition, 61 new flybar hoists were delivered, each with its own winch and control cabinet. All pulley blocks and ropes were replaced, and a new flybar was installed. Two portal flybar hoists with dedicated winches completed the delivery.
