Facts and Figures
Three automatic covers for stage platforms with screwjack drives, three stage platforms with rope hoist system, and six vertical backstage winches ensure flexible and reliable scenic operations.
Type of venue

With its impressive architecture, exceptional acoustics and rich history, Teatro Colón ranks among the world’s greatest opera houses
– on par with La Scala in Milan or the Vienna State Opera. As part of an extensive renovation, Waagner-Biro supplied some of the most advanced stage engineering systems: three automatic covers for stage platforms with screwjack drives, three rope-driven stage platforms and six vertical backstage winches. In addition, the company delivered two audience platforms with 19 m travel height and a freight elevator with a 50 m² platform. In 2010, just in time for Argentina’s 200th independence anniversary, the Teatro Colón was proudly reopened – blending historic splendor with modern technology.
